02. Art History and Philosophy Conference
The Art History and Philosophy Conference is a fictitious annual conference dedicated to the synthesis of Art History and Philosophy through an academic lens. This conference is also supported by a physical publication featuring short academic essays published the year prior by featured academics.
The synthesis of old and new became a fundamental idea when considering branding and visual direction - arrived at to reflect progressive themes discussed in the publication within the backdrop of the historic and academic subjects. This visual strategy can be seen in the typographic and layout decisions employed within the publication - hinted at by, for example, juxtaposing center aligned text and serif typefaces with modern bookbinding techniques and layout decisions.
The visual language also features simple illustrations which seek to merge iconography associated with geometry, space, and time - themes often discussed in the publication - and were partially inspired by mathematics textbook diagrams.
