01. NTS Summer Fest
NTS Summer Fest is a fictitious music event hosted by NTS radio in collaboration with Pioneer. The brief involved creating a visual identity for the event which could be applied to environmental graphics at the event, various printed mediums such as event wristbands, alongside digital marketing assets.
The initial ambitions of the branding and visual direction included making reference to summer, either through explicit mention or by evoking a sense of warmth, while avoiding anything overly ‘flowery’ by introducing a darker, more underground quality - consistent with the aesthetic found in much of NTS’ previous promotional graphics.
I chose the route of making a more explicit reference to summer with the inclusion of fruit iconography whilst utilising a pixel/bitmap look to ensure the branding didn’t become too mellow. The pixel/bitmap look was also reached as a reference to NTS’ largely digital presence, with the ambiguity of the effect leading to a subtle reference to NTS’ tagline ‘Don't Assume’.
